A Christian worldview for Nursing according to Colossians 1

• God-Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else and He holds all creation together (Colossians 1: 15-16; 17)
• Person-God desire peace and Grace for all people (Colossians 1:2, NLT), who were once far away from God, we were His enemies separated from Him by our evil thoughts and actions; Yet now He Has reconciled all of creation to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are Holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault (Colossians 1:21-22, NLT). God has made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ blood on the cross (Colossians 1:20, NLT). But people must be continually reminded of this truth and stand firmly in it, because of death sickness and illness, this can drift people away from the assurance you received when you hear about the Good News (Colossians 1:23, NLT, italics my own words)
• Environment– He made things we can see and the things we cant’s see, such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers and authorities in the unseen world (Colossians 1:16, NLT). God has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness (death, disease, illness and sickness) and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins (Colossians 1:13, NLT).
• Health-grace and peace (shalom) Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing His glory (Shelly & Miller, 2006, pg. 65).

Nursing-love for all people that the Holy Spirit has given us, preaching the Good news bearing the fruits everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed our lives from the day your first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace (Colossians 1:8-10). Therefore, It is important for nurses to pray that God give them complete knowledge of His will and to give us spiritual wisdom and understanding so that their work will please the Lord and their lives will produce every kind of good fruit; continuing to know God better and better each day. Nurses also should pray to have endurance and patience and to be filled with joy always thanking the Father for every blessing because we live in light (Colossians 1:10-11, NLT).
