Assignment: Your Quality Perspective?

You were asked to read three articles, each with different perspectives on how to define, measure and assess quality. Based on your readings and reflection on these articles, answer the following questions (you should write 1 page per question).  You do not need to obtain any additional information; this exercise is based only on your interpretation of the articles.:

A: The first article “Crossing the Quality Chasm” discusses four areas of focus for environmental change. For each of the areas, discuss how your organization, or your work group, is currently performing in each of these areas. For example, what is your organization doing to assure evidence based healthcare is delivered? What is the current state of information technology within your department and is it used to improve care delivery? Etc.

B. The second article sets for a “Triple Aim” approach to delivering healthcare services. Discuss how your country or local community is doing in each of the three areas? Is there a trade-off and if so, how does it impact quality?

C. The third article focuses on value. Give an example of a healthcare service in which you provide or are very knowledgeable about and discuss if it is “high-value” based on your knowledge of the service. What would make if higher value? Lower value? And why?
