Assessment 1: Group Poster Presentation (30%)
Task

The theme for the poster is:
“To what extent can Human Resource Management (HRM) be strategic? Critically evaluate in light of models of strategic HRM (SHRM), their critiques, and empirical evidence”.
More detailed guidance:
1. The poster should reflect an understanding and critical evaluation of the debates about the nature of strategic HRM (SHRM). This will include some engagement with at least one model of SHRM.
2. It should also capture relevant empirical evidence and research in the field and this will include critical evaluation of the external pressures and constraints.
3. Your poster should include a critical analysis of the key issues (ie what the theory says and criticisms of it) and you should make use of relevant theories and frameworks to support your analysis.
4. The poster should contain a conclusion identifying the key points of what can be gained from your analysis concerning the nature of SHRM.
5. Key references (maximum of eight) should be included in a small box on the poster (use smaller sized text for this).
Your poster should:
1. Clearly identify your understanding of the concept of SHRM and the constraints that drive strategic priorities in the field of labour management.
2. Provide a clear and articulate reasoning and logic for the viewers of your
poster to follow.

3. Engage carefully with a range of conceptual and theoretical material to help support your analysis.
4. Make effective use of graphics and diagrams to support your presentation, where appropriate. Note: you will not be using a projector / PowerPoint etc. so you are advised to make your poster as eye-catching, innovative and clear as possible. This will enhance its overall impact.
5. You will need to engage and discuss your poster and the issues it raises with staff who will be browsing the posters. Each member of the group will be expected to contribute to these discussions.
