What is fake news? Your assignment is to identify cases in which a story/article/event has been attacked as “fake news.” You should analyze these examples decide whether you think the term “fake news” is being appropriately. Then, for your paper, select two examples: 1) One example in which you determine that the term “fake news” is appropriately being used. 2) One example in which you determine that the term “fake news” is not appropriately being used. Your paper should: • Describe each example, including a summary and source (i.e., date and name of publication or broadcast) and a web link. • Describe why you think the term “fake news” is appropriately or inappropriately has been applied to the examples. • Provide evidence and your argument to defend your decision. • Based on your experience, offer a list of guidelines or tips to help other people to determine whether something is fake news or not fake news. • You should include images that illustrate your examples and links, if possible, to the two examples. Your essay should be approximately 800-1000 words.
