Memo Essay #6: The Writing Process
Now that you’ve watched the PowerPoint presentation on the Writing Process, compose a six-paragraph memo essay that explains the process as shown in the presentation. Follow these guidelines:
 Single-space the memo essay.
 Do not indent memo paragraphs; separate them with one single space.
 All paragraphs must run 6-8 lines.
 Begin each paragraph with a clear and simple topic sentence (1 line).
 In your intro, discuss your past experience with(out) the writing process.
 End the intro with this underlined thesis statement:
Writing an essay is easiest when following the writing process.
 In four body ¶s, discuss the four stages of the writing process.
 Thesis statements and topic sentences should be equal to one line length across the page.
 Discuss one stage per paragraph, discussing all its steps—in order.
 Underline this restated thesis that begins your conclusion: The writing process, when followed, makes writing easier.
 Focus your conclusion on the future.
 Do not use any form of the word you.
 Do not use verbs in the command/imperative form.
 Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
 Edit & revise carefully – Proofread!
 Include a single-spaced memo heading at the top of your essay.
 Skip two single spaces after the memo heading; bold and center your title.
 Do not use all-caps for your title; capitalize appropriately.
 Skip one single space after the title, then begin the first memo paragraph.
 Follow all memo guidelines as explained in the class syllabus.
 Model your memo format on the attached example.

This memo essay, is due at the end of Sunday, 6 March. Be sure your essay is either sent in a .doc or a .docx file, or it will not be accepted for credit. Also, make sure you click on the “Submit button,” or you will not receive credit for your hard work!
