‘Local government corporate governance vs. non-governmental corporate governance’
This is a Research Project.

I will require you to juxtapose the corporate governance style/s of local government against that of non-government corporate governance style/s. To achieve this, I will require you to consider themes / principles from corporate governance (predominantly), leadership, strategic management and operations management. You will need to consider secondary data such as statistics, graphs, quotes and anything that can strengthen the argument. This is not a traditional essay in the sense of just providing quotes. You’ll need to introduce relevant and varied evidence. I am happy for you to use international examples beyond the Australian political and business framework, but I expect a number of Australian references in majority fashion. The issue / crux here is determining the difference between the political and business modes of corporate governance. Again, I am happy for you to reference other business themes beyond corporate governance (such as leadership, strategic management etc) as long as it ties back in with corporate governance. I expect a number of traditional research models to be used to gain secondary evidence, not just simple quotes. If you can incorporate primary evidence too, great. Spelling and grammar is to be of a high standard. Failure to adhere to varied research methodologies and good spelling/grammar will result in the essay being reissued.

The purpose of this Project is explanatory: you provide an account of the issue, of what occurred in terms of a sequence of the events, of the factors contributing to the problem issue, of the roles of key players, and of the impact of past decisions. In order to capture multiple viewpoints and a range of information. One of the core challenges for you is to find the right balance between description and analysis. It is very important to note that description without analysis is not sufficient for this project. Therefore, a business plan, marketing plan or anything similar is not appropriate for this Project as it will not easily lend itself to the required analysis.
