1. As Halliday has pointed out (Learning How to Mean: 1976), in learning their language, children learn about their culture; and by learning about their culture, they gain access to more and more of their language. Using ideas raised in at least two of the course readings, discuss the issues concerning learning and culture that you have considered on this course. You may also use examples from your own experience across languages or cultural styles, and/or in your roles as parents, as language learners, in a professional role you have been involved in, or through travel experiences.
