Students must submit a critical review of the book Pfeffer (2015).
In the first 1/3 of your review, you should write a critical assessment of the author’s
interpretations, the book’s contributions to the field of leadership, and the book’s other
strengths and weaknesses. The second 1/3 of your review should evaluate the evidence
and arguments of the book and relate the book’s approach to the set of assigned readings
in the course including Northouse (2016) and Cialdini (2009). Make sure you support and
illustrate your points with careful discussion and evidence. The final 1/3 of your review
should answer these questions: How does Pfeffer (2015) and Northouse (2016)
contribute to your understanding of leadership? How this critical review will contribute to

your journey toward becoming an effective leader? The book review should conclude
with an emphasis on the provision of practical and concrete advice on leadership.
Students will be expected to submit the book review on April 5. The review should be
approximately 10-pages long. It will be evaluated for the evident quality of your critical
assessment, for the originality and substance of your ideas and insights, and for the
effectiveness with which those ideas are convincingly proposed and argued.
Prepare your submission using the APA Publication Manual guidelines. Grading criteria
will be posted on D2L. This assignment is due on April 5
th
