1. Complete each of the journal entries for modules 1 through 8.
Module 1 Questions for Reflection:
Identify 5 cultural differences between your culture and another cultural group.
Analyze how cultural differences can impact students’ educational process.
Recommend 10 strategies for increasing cross-cultural awareness among teachers and students.

Module 2 Questions for Reflection:
Make arrangements to visit two or more schools. Record practices in classrooms, the halls, the cafeteria, extracurricular activities, and the main office that might be perceived as racist by
persons of color. Write two paragraphs describing these practices; why they could be considered racist; and how the school could change them.
Identify 5 examples of prejudice that you have observed and/or experienced. Explain why you think that these instances of prejudice took place.

Module 3 Questions for Reflection:
Visit a school in an economically depressed area of your community and another school in a community that serves students from the upper middle class. Record the differences in the physical
environment, aesthetics, school climate, resources for students, and attitudes of faculty and students. Compare the two schools and analyze the reasons for any differences you have observed.
Identify 10 examples of how social class background affects students’ educational process.

Module 4 Questions for Reflection:
Identify 5 differences between male and female students in the way that they approach learning.
Analyze how teachers may reinforce stereotypical gender behavior in the classroom. Explain which teacher responses to students are most supportive of learning. Explain how these responses differ
for boys and girls.

Module 5 Questions for Reflection:
Identify 5 strategies that you would use to identify students who have special needs.
Produce a plan for teaching exceptional students in the inclusive classroom.
Identify 10 assistive technologies that you could use in the classroom and which exceptionality they would best address.

Module 6 Questions for Reflection:
Recommend 10 strategies for teaching language minority students in the mainstream class.
Summarize the major laws protecting language minority students and analyze what this means for teachers.

Module 7 Questions for Reflection:
In one paragraph explain how religion influences the values and expectations that parents place on schools.
Produce a short plan for the benefit of teachers for addressing religion in public schools.
Write a plan of action for meeting with parents and explaining to them how you will be addressing evolution in your class. Describe what steps you would take to avoid conflict with parental
religious views.

Module 8 Questions for Reflection:
Recommend 10 strategies for creating a positive and supportive learning environment in the multicultural classroom.
Develop a personal plan for increasing your knowledge about and experiences with cultural groups that are different than your own. How will you assess your progress at becoming more aware of
cultural differences?

2. Compile each of the journal entries from modules 1-8 into a 3-page double-spaced report in APA style.

3. Also explain the connections that you have made between the course content and your personal experiences and provide examples of how you have grown as a result of reflecting on diversity issues.
