How has digital communication changed the relationship between ‘talk’ and ‘text’?

Guidance notes (2000 Words) It is essential that writer uses evidence from the materials that will be provided after the biding process.
To write an essay: an extended piece of prose writing that demonstrates critical understanding of and engagement with the module materials. To do this, you will have to assess the available evidence, take a range of viewpoints into account, and explain things in your own words (even if you think that someone else has ‘said it better’). You will also have to be selective. Given the word limit, you will need to select your material carefully, and you should not attempt to cover everything. The important thing is to be able to show that you have thought carefully about the question.
Important material will be uploaded once the biding process ends:
·    The introduction to Communicating in English contains a useful discussion of the distinction between talk and text.
·    Communicating in English, Chapter 2 Reading A looks at how digital communications technology has changed the way in which people write, which may have some bearing on the changing nature of text.
·    Communicating in English, Chapter 8 explicitly addresses the changed relationship between ‘talk’ and ‘text’.
·    You may also find useful background information in Communicating in English, Chapters 1 and 2 about ways in which people use talk and texts to communicate.
·    Audio-visual clips 12.6, 15.1 and 15.2 in which digital communications users describe how they use digital technology and how it has changed the way they communicate.
