How Facebook has globalized the world.

Facebook is the most popular social networking site based in Menlo Park, California, united states that was launched in February, 2004 by Facebook Company and has over 1.2 billion users making up 17% of the world population excluding China government which blocked their Facebook. Users create their profile, find friends and exchange messages to each other. It is a profit-corporate company and generates revenue of over a billion dollar in every financial year.

Being the most popular social network platform, it is the leading in the world having an estimated 1.1 billion unique monthly visitors in comparison with other social networking sites competing together like You Tube has 1 billion estimated unique monthly visitors, Twitter has 310 million estimated unique monthly visitors, LinkedIn has 255 million estimated unique monthly visitors, Pinterest has 250 million and Google plus has 120 million estimated unique monthly visitors. Having many users means it has mobilize several countries to use it in there different ways which has made world to be global.

First, it has changed how we socialize. Different companies had tried that before, to create a platform that users communicate anywhere, anytime with anybody either loved ones, friends and college mates. One can socialize with someone in abroad, downstairs in your building or in the same room. Reason why it has many users as compared to other social networking sites is because it is free to create an account and consumes minimal amount when using it.

Second, it has changed how we share our lives. Sharing of our profiles, pictures, videos, favorite books, movies and films. Sharing has been there for years, but Facebook has enabled sharing of quality things with high quality cameras and powerful computers with approximately 2.4 million shares per hour according to a research conducted by online advertising research company.

Thirdly, there are changes on how we get news. Apart from users posting about their personal issues, there is also posts of several kinds of videos some of them being funny, users posts trending political events and issues, they also posts about soccer news where they get comments and likes from their viewers. As compared to other social networks like LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest, Facebook was the first one to introduce the News Feed platform where users just go through what’s trending as it updates automatically.

Fourthly, Facebook has globalized people on how to conduct politics. United States of America being an example, Barack Obama chose Facebook to be one of its platforms to mobilize voters, more so youths since as per research it is known that Facebook users are majorly youths. Barack Obama was competing with John McCain who was less conversant in using social media among youths who were tech-savvy as compared to earlier days, being 71 years old. Jeff Kennedy earlier back uses television in his time to reach to its voters and air out its manifestos.

Fifthly, it has changed how revolution based issues is conducted. This is made most of the Middle East countries to conducts there terrorism where they use Facebook as their channel to recruit their members and carry out the attacks since their privacy are guarded by the Facebook company. Countries like Yemen and other Arab countries located in the Middle East conducting an uprising called Arab spring who wanted to dominate their territories and to rule over the government as rebels. Countries like Egypt, Libya and Tunisia used by head of governments for revolution and this is where Facebook has encourage terrorism as compared to other networking sites because Facebook has many users and the terrorist can air their news and carry out the attacks by communicating without their location.

Lastly, it has changed how we conduct business and interact with customers. With companies like Pepsi and Coke, they have been placing their ads online and get their responds through online votes. Several companies too creates there Facebook page in order to interact with their customers directly. They advertise their products or services, receive the feedback from their customers and responds to customers either to their positive or negative comments.
