Many of you will be writing a methodology for the first time this week. The tentative rubric should give you some clarity about what should be included in the Methodology, and I also wanted to provide the following input; you can view this excerpt from the Methodology assignment description as an outline where each major section is a paragraph with topic sentence, logical explanations, and a transition or concluding sentence at the end:

The methodology section of a research paper generally has the following parts, which also can be divided into sections, with headings:
I. Research Questions and Methodology (this can be paragraph one)

State your research questions

Explain the research method(s) that can lead to answering the research questions

II. Participants

Explain the criteria of choosing participants

Introduce who participate in your research project

III. Data collection Procedures

Introduce how data was collected with the method(s) mentioned above

IV. Data Analysis Procedures

Explain how you use the data collected to answer the research questionsParagraph 1) your process for getting primary data (information you collect yourself or interpret yourself) and
Paragraph 2) what databases and search terms you used to get your secondary data (articles and sources)

Don’t talk about Why you are doing the research, but explain How you plan to get the information you need to answer your research question. The methodology is a common part of research, and it allows others to repeat your research or have a better understanding of how you came to your answer.

Is this question part of your Assignment?
