How computer security influences the society and community

Each Student will be asked to write a research paper (1500-2500 words) that analyses a topic related to computers and technology such as: marketing (big data analytics), privacy, computer security, national security, job security, data security, etc. and how it influences society and your community. The paper must include analysis and graphs based on statistical data to substantiate your perspective. The goal of the research paper is to discuss your topic from the standpoint of what significant problems does it pose to your community or society in general and propose a strategy to address the issue. Research Paper Organization (Research paper) Your research paper shall consist of the following parts, in the order shown:
1. Cover page, with abstract. The abstract is a short one-paragraph description of the paper’s topic. It’s intended to help other researchers see what the scope of the paper is, so they can quickly decide if it covers the area they’re working on. For example, it may say that the paper covers the impact of smart phones on privacy and how to protect yourself, without giving any information about what can and should be done to accomplish that. 2. Introduction: The purpose, scope, and objectives of your paper. The significance of your topic—why you think it is important enough or interesting enough for you to study. 3. Discussion: The information you collected, with footnotes for your citations of your references. The analysis you performed, the conclusions you reached, and the recommendations (if any) that you are making. Your topic may not call for any recommendations; you’re not required to make any, but you should try to draw conclusions about possible future directions, even if you can’t choose any of them. 4. Conclusions and Recommendations: A summary list of the ones you made in the Discussion section. If you haven’t made any recommendations, you may title this section just “Conclusions.” 5. Bibliography: The books and journals from which your information came. This should include only those publications that you cite in the Discussion section, not those that you read but didn’t use. Each entry should have an identifying tag as explained below in the References section You should show critical thinking in your Paper: ✓ Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches or concepts
✓ Compare different technologies (If needed)
✓ Propose or predict future directions (If needed)
Do not merely repeat what other people have already said. Form your own opinions and show me that you understand the meaning of what you have found. You must use at least three references for your paper, which come from books or Peer-reviewed journal articles; additional references are encouraged. Be very careful about Web references, because they lack the permanence of books and journals. (Wikipedia is not a peer reviewed source!) You will upload your paper to Turnitin.com on titanium, which means you will get a similarity percentage of how much data you have used from your references. For an undergrad class, a percentage less than 15% is considered acceptable. Papers over this percentage will receive a significant reduction in points. If you get a similarity percentage of under 10%, it means you have done your paper right. Do not use long direct quotes for this paper. The length of the quotes will be counted towards your similarity percentage. This is a very good practice for para phrasing. You must submit your paper on Titanium via Turnitin before the deadline (prior to the class period in which the article is listed in the course syllabus) to receive full credit for the assignment.
