Answer these two questions in an essay of five or fewer double space pages.
Question 1: (4 pages or fewer)
Read the attached article by Schemitz and colleagues (‘the interconnection of childhood poverty and homelessness: negative impact/points of access’) then answer the following questions:
1. In each family in this study, two people were interviewed. Who were they?
2. If a family lived in a cheap motel, was it classified as “homeless”?
3. What percentage of the children in this study were classified as African American?
4. Content validity of the semi-structured questionnaires/interview schedules was addressed, in part, by a panel of experts. Who was on the panel?
5. On the standardized tests, there was only one statistically significant difference. On which variable did the homeless children have a significantly higher mean than the domiciled
children?
6. Did a majority of the children have concrete goals for their future?
7. What percentage of the homeless children saw family members as people who could help?
8. The homeless families were solicited from somewhat different sources. In your opinion, is the difference in sources important? Could it affect the outcomes of this study? Explain. (See
lines 120-125)
9. The researchers do not report whether any of those who were solicited to participate in the study declined to do so. Would you be interested in having such information? Why? Why not?
