Green Exercise and directed attention

This topic will look at whether the health benefits of green exercise (e.g. improved self-esteem, mood, depression etc) are related to improvements in directed attention .

The literature review should cover an area relevant to your project title. It should provide well-written background information of the field of study, including reference to the primary literature. For example, if the title or your project is ‘The Effect of Extracted Herbal 0ils on Neutrophil Activity’ then your review could be titled ‘The biology of the neutrophil’ and might include a review of neutrophil biology, their function, and a brief history of claims that essential oils may be used to ‘modulate’ the immune system.

The abstract is a concise, informative summary of the review written in not more than 150 words. It should be readable without reference to the main text and should describe concisely the scope and the outcome of the literature review Remember, you should not repeat information contained in the title or refer to the literature.

Present your survey of relevant literature, including any data interpretation where necessary. Attention should be paid to any field, laboratory and theoretical studies in your chosen field. All statements should be backed-up with appropriate referencing. Please note that source material should not be reproduced verbatim or subject to only minor changes.
A. Illustrations: The sources from which diagrams, drawings and graphs are derived should be stated in the legend. Photomicrographs or microscopic drawings should give the magnification or the size of the subject in the legend. Ensure that you properly cite copies of diagrams, tables or other copyright material (this covers most published material).
B. Tables and Figures: these should each have an independent numbering system so they can be referred to easily in the body of the text. All tables and figures should be titled and referred to in the text. Conventionally, titles appear above the table whilst legends to figures appear under the illustration.

The literature review will be assessed on the clarity and relevance of the literature review and the logical development of the review. The work will be assessed by your tutor(s) and the marks will be moderated by the module team. The final mark is subject to the approval of the examining board. .
