Geoscience career, development.

Description

Description

By investigating a geoscience career, you will learn more about a specialty area (such as geographic information systems, natural hazards, urban planning, petroleum geology, meteorology, resource exploration, teaching, environmental geoscience, medical geography and many other areas), the work that people in these fields do, and the career options that exist in these areas. You will also learn about what preparation and qualifications are involved in entering these interesting and rewarding careers, and about job opportunities and salaries.

You are graded on the quality of your essay, how well you rank and review your peers’ essays to assess your knowledge and critical thinking skills, and how well/honestly you review your own essay (again, assessing your critical thinking skills).

There is a calibration exercise to help you get a feel on how to rate your and your peers’ essays – you need to be +/- 2 points to successfully go through the calibration exercise. The overall grade for the whole assignment is broken out as follows: your essay (45%), how well you rank your peers’ essays (30%), how well you complete the calibration exercise (10%), and your honest self-assessment (15%). After the completion of the Circuit assignment, I will go and regrade as needed. Your true grade for this assignment will be posted on Blackboard, not on Circuit.
