You are required to answer the following essay question.
It is commonly thought that special duties to fellow compatriots take
priority ovÕÉ≠†Њ†er general duties of justice owed to non­compatriots in other
countries. According to Robert Goodin, however, ‘In the present world
system, it is often – perhaps ordinarily – wrong to give priority to the
claims of our compatriots’ (1988: 686). Explain and critically assess the
argument via which Goodin reaches this conclusion.
