Explore the potentials and limitations of intercultural communication?
Order Description
Just to Clarify this is not Sociology Subject, This Subject is Intercultural Communication. Thanks.

1/Task Description

Examine an array of issues relating to Intercultural Communication. In this assignment, you are asked to ?Explore the potentials and limitations of intercultural communication?. In developing your argument you should draw from the course content in considering key aspects which can impinge on the success or failure of intercultural communication (IC).
You should draw on real-world examples from the literature (i.e. course readings or other academic sources) as well as your own examples to illustrate the points you are seeking to make. Following are some questions which relate to the key aspects of the course content and can help you structure your argument:
– To what extent can knowing about invisible cultural codes (verbal and non-verbal) embedded in different languages help IC?
– To what extent can one?s socio-cultural & gender identity, as well as how others? perceive one?s identity impinge on IC?
– To what extent can religion impact on IC?
– In what ways can power issues impact on IC?
You can see that the above questions are directly linked to the course content covered in weeks 2 to 7. The content of weeks 8 and 11 contextualise many of the issues considered in weeks 2 to 7 and provide further examples of IC in different contexts. Week 1 introduced the topic of IC and week 12 revisit it in light of the core aspects covered in the course. In planning your argument for your essay, it is wise to revisit lectures and readings, your reading logs, any of your own notes. Remember that you can also use the extra readings that you may not have had time to consult during the semester.
Your essay should be clearly structured, and methodically address a series of points to illustrate the case you are seeking to make. Don?t try to cover every aspect discussed in this course ? choose several key areas (this means more than two) to examine, and discuss these using examples to support your points. One way to structure your argument would be to select three areas treated in the course, and to concisely consider how each demonstrates a potential or limitation of IC. In your introduction you should clearly state which aspects of IC you are going to consider more specifically in your argument. For example, you could decide to answer three questions selected from above, or to make up your own. Your conclusion should summarise the key points of your argument. It can also include ?an opening?, i.e. a question you still have or would require further research in your view.
One final point: your argument must demonstrate that you are very familiar with the course content as well as share your own critical reflection on it, relating it to the references you will use, and your selected examples, to make your point throughout the development of your argument. Bear in mind that ?Critical? means going beyond summarising key points relating to the essay topic.

References (not included in word count) Eight or more sound references are expected for this assessment. It is expected that at least five of these will be sourced from the course readings with three additional academic sources minimum. Other sources can be used in addition to the course materials and academic sources. All citations and references need to be made in a recognized academic fashion using the APA system.

Regarding the essay, you do have to base what you see as potential and limitations on the various readings you have done throughout the semester. It could be good to look at the Week 1 reading presenting the reasons why IC communication is important and what it can achieve. You need to select three aspects to discuss. It could be relating gender, ethnicity, verbal/non-verbal, religion, etc.
