Study Notes

The focus this week is to explore the application of the conceptual, action, and research tools of community psychology to social problems associated with colonization, racism, immigration and adaptation in domestic and global contexts.

Nelson & Prilleltensky (2010), in Chapters 16 & 17, explore the nature and basis of colonization, racism and oppression; the role of community psychologists in addressing social issues relevant to colonization, racism, immigration and adaptation; and the application of research and intervention tools in community psychology to addressing these issues.

Consider ways in which you as a future community psychologist might apply action and research tools to address issues related to colonization, racism, immigration, and adaptation within a global context. How might you use intervention and research to facilitate liberation and well-being in the context of specific examples of colonization, racism, immigration, and adaptation?
Describe the application of community psychology action and research tools to address issues related to colonization, racism, immigration or adaptation within a global context.
