1.  I found the concept of using volume to create illusion interesting.  Artists can create volume and depth in their art by using techniques, such as drawing curves and arcs in their pictures, to trick the eye into believing the image has depth and is three dimensional.  I think it is amazing how artists can create the illusion of 3D images on a flat piece of paper.

Another concept I found interesting is that prisms have the base of any shape.  When I think of prisms, I usually think about the shape of a triangle and the fun rainbow effect that they give off when light goes through them.  Although a triangle is a popular shape for a prism, the base can be any shape that is made up of straight lines.

2.  This link shows you six ways to create the illusion of space on 2D surfaces.  You can create depth by using linear perspective, overlapping, size, placement on the surface, color and value, and detail.
