This assignment has got 2 main parts;

1.  You need to design a n IELTS (International English Language system) test with its 4 sections (writing, listening, speaking and reading).

2. Once  you design our test then you need to write a justification (analyzing) about our test (sample justification was provided)

Part 1: designing an IELTS exam

1. a) Listening test Design: (4 questions and answers 180-200 words )

You need to find sample passages from Internet for listening section, and add them at the end of the test as an appendix.

Two texts (e.g. a dialogue and a monologue) are required. At least two test techniques (e.g. one multiple choice question and one true or false question) should be used with each technique employed to design two test questions (e.g. one is easy and the other is difficult) for listening skill.
You should write brief and clear instructions for each test question. All test items should be clearly labeled or numbered and attached in appendices.
You need to provide answers of your questions as well.

1. b) Reading test design (6 questions & answers 200 words)

You need to find sample passage from Internet, and add it at the end of the test as an appendix.

One text (e.g. a dialogue or a monologue) are required. At least 6 test techniques e.g.multiple choice question, true or false question, gap filling, matching, short answers, long written assignments (letter), paraphrasing, sentence completion, error detection,should be used with each technique employed to design test questions (e.g. from easier to difficult) for reading skills.
Reading: design and develop one reading task. It should have six test questions and cover the following reading skills and techniques.
1. Understanding main idea
2. Skimming
3. Scanning
4. Understanding words and expressions in context, e.g. pronoun reference
5. Understanding words and expressions in context, e.g. contextual meaning, not literary meaning
6. Identifying the passage writer’s attitudes, viewpoints or implications, e.g. optimistic, pessimistic, ironic or appraising
The test question format should include multiple choices, a short answer, gap filling and true or false.

You need to provide answers of your questions.

1. c) Speaking test design (2 questions and marking criteria 700 words)

Two different test techniques should be used with each technique employed to design two test questions (e.g. one is a role play and the other is a situational dialogue).Key marking criteria should be developed.

2. d) Writing test design (2 questions and marking criteria 700 words)
Writing: design and develop two writing tasks.

Two different test techniques should be used with each technique employed to design two test questions (e.g. one is a graph or table-based writing task and the other is a topic-based one). Key marking criteria should be developed.
