The knowledge of the research process is incredibly important to me in my continued nursing practice for a number of reasons. Number one this course has helped me to identify key steps in analyzing research, which will benefit me when it comes to patient education, going on to continue my own education, and determine topics relevant to my practice. So far I have really learned a lot in this class, and although I do not plan to go into research, I’m certainly glad that I have gained some knowledge in this field. The research process can surely be daunting at first, as there are many different elements to determine validity and reliability in research articles that may be used. I do however; believe that this knowledge will be extremely beneficial in my continuing education, as I have learned some of the basics in analyzing research. As we grow in our careers, research will become more important to us, and I believe that we will be looking into more research especially if we go on to continue our education. Being able to use the research process is not only valuable to us, but it is also valuable to the patients we serve on a daily basis. It gives us the knowledge needed to become better at our jobs, and to be better educators. Personally, I have learned quite a bit in this course, and am happy to have learned so much. The fact that there are so many useful tools to help us analyze research and understand the research process is wonderful, because they give us a step-by-step guide into dissemination and planning.
