Order Description

Task Description:
In the second assignment, you will choose the reading for yourself. For the second critical reading, the article must be an academic style research article, including new data, not a review or discussion article. For the second assignment, you MUST attach a photocopy of the paper you have reviewed.
The second critical reading assignment is 750 words. The goal is to identify and describe general strengths & weaknesses in relation to the chosen qualitative methodology and to give more detail if there is a particular issue or problem. Given the word limit you should think carefully about your priorities in selecting what you choose to focus upon in your essay; in other words, concentrate on the most important points first.

Criteria & Marking:
Choice of article
Identification of central concepts of the study
Brief explanation of how the literature review establishes the “warrant” (reason) for the study
Ability to locate and describe general strengths & weaknesses
Ability to identify and describe any specific weaknesses in the logic of the argument and chain of reasoning
Ability to critically analyse and evaluate the methodology employed in the research study
Ability to distinguish and separate significant factors from unimportant factors in relation to the goals of the study
Ability to analyse, organise and synthesise the main concepts and arguments into a coherent essay
Ability to determine whether the conclusions are justified
Effectiveness in summarising and concluding the essay.
