It is difficult to put an upper limit on the number of pages because of the wide variations in topics but a
general rule is: less writing is a signal of more understanding.
Lengthy derivation should be avoided and only a reference should be given to the source. Also, program
screen shots should be minimized and only used to show the main steps followed in the program.
For term papers, it is crucial and essential in demonstrating your understanding to give two types of
examples:
a. Sample examples on how to apply the concept that you’re discussing.
b. Practical examples of the use of the concept (may not be very detailed).
Keep the objectives in mind (demonstration of understanding) and avoid too much copying of material in
literature.
