Assessment Item: Practice Development Clinical Project (50%)

You must choose a topic related to your off campus clinical experience (My placement was at the Operating Theatre department in a big Sydney tertiary hospital which contained 18 individual theatres in total). I worked along side with Anaesthetic nurses, Scrub/scout nurses and recovery nurses for various types of surgical cases.

Your topic chosen must discuss each of the following 5 points and critically analyse the topic using evidence-based literature within the last 10 years:

o A description of the topic presentation (Topic chosen: Accurately complete patients’ pre-op checklists before taking patients into their operating theatres – Anaesthetic nurse) and its clinical consequences (This point can be written in first person)

o Biopsychosocial consequences that may arise in the clinical topic including the impact/s it may have on the patient and their family

o Discuss the therapeutic relationship between nurses and patients/families in the context of care related to the topic

o Discuss the cultural issues that may be associated with the topic

o Depict the ethical legal and policy issues that may arise during the process of care for your specific topic.
