Civil Rights Era

In this assignment, you will create a persuasive visual argument in small groups of 2 or 3 on a topic of your choice. As a group, you will present on your visual during our final exam period, explaining the following: •what the visual’s argument is •your group’s aim or goal •the intended audience (and why you chose this audience) •the choices you made in creating it (be detailed–why did you choose that wording, font, colors, images, etc…) •how the project developed (short narrative) Your visual can be physical (such as on a poster board) or digital (presented through the projector); however, you will need to submit an electronic version of it through Canvas (but this can be a picture). Your visual argument should contain both text and image(s). For examples of visual arguments, look at pgs. 670-676 in Everything is an Argument. Along with a copy of the argument, each group member should also submit 1 to 2 pages of presentation notes through Canvas before we meet on presentation day. These can be in whatever format you find most helpful for presentations, such as bullet points or an outline. If your argument contains any data from a source, such as statistics, also submit a Works Cited sheet with your presentation notes. Every member of a group needs to contribute to the process of writing and creating the argument, and every member needs to participate in the presentation. Keep in mind that this is a formal presentation, so you need to be prepared (In other words, no “winging it.”).
