Choose any three websites of the same industry from Qatar, GCC region and worldwide. This can be for example banks,
telecommunication service providers, major shopping centers or any retailers that you frequent often in Qatar or in the GCC.
Evaluate the web sites based on the criteria given below and write a report. Start your report with a brief description of the
industry you have selected and how technology changed the way it is being conducted. Also, the introduction should include a
short summary of the companies owning the websites you have selected for the comparison.,
Things to look for and think about in a web site:
– Does the URL clearly reflect the name of the organization?
– Is it easy to spot the website through popular search engines (e.g. Google)? How well, you think, is the SEO strategy
implemented by the website administration team?
– Is the website accessible through devices other than PC or laptops (e.g. smartphones and tablets)? Is there a mobile
version of the website?
– Is the website compatible with all major web browsers? How would you evaluate the compatibility?
– Is the website secured when it comes to perform sensitive operations (e.g. login)?
– Now your turn! Think of four, five or six more criteria (one per team member) to evaluate and compare the same
websites. The criteria should be relevant to what you have learned in the course and should also be actual and
properly related to the purpose of the project. Use research, your common sense, experience and new knowledge in
completing this requirement.
