Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements

INTRODUCTION: review p. 3 of manual for general information about the introduction…be sure to clearly state the purpose of the experiment (for only Part 1). Then define any new terms related to the experiment…give the chemical equation for reaction studied…explain how the purpose is fulfilled (in general terms…do NOT write exact procedure in the intro)…do NOT put a “grocery list” of calculations or equations in the intro, but you can briefly explain how something was calculated … do not COPY the manual

DATA: all data contained on lab computer printout **ATTACH THE PRINTOUT IN THE DATA SECTION. (There is NO need to recopy any data that appears on the signed printout.)

CALCULATIONS:

show all 3 full calculations of Molarity (with equations, labels, units and proper sig figs)
show full calculation of average molarity and average deviation
DISCUSSION: remember…a discussion consists of 3 things…written in paragraph format

1) State your result(s) … ( avg M +/- avg dev).

2) State the expected result(s), compare to your result and comment on this comparison (in terms of accuracy) … For this experiment compare your average M to class average (class avg = expected) Each lab section results will be posted on blackboard 24-48 hrs after each lab. Also comment on your precision (average deviation results as compared to the 0.001 limit)

3) Discuss sources of experimental error. Give 3-4 specific sources of experimental error and explain how these would affect the final result.
