Characterizing Queen Gertrude

In a post of at least 250 words, or more analyze Gertrude’s role in the play more carefully through a close analysis of Shakespeare. Based on the first initial of your last name, you have been assigned to analyze one of Gertrude’s speeches.
In your analysis, you might want to examine where Gertrude’s loyalties lie: to her son, husband, former husband, or herself? Your discussion forum entry should cite at least once from your assigned group of lines.
Group A – Last Names Beginning with A through F
Begin with Queen’s “I will not speak with her.” (4.5.1)
End with Queen’s “Let her come in.” (4.5.21)
During this module you will:

Read the following:
• Hamlet, Acts IV and V
Chances are that you can pick up a cheap paper copy of the play almost anywhere. If you do, it is suggested that you obtain the Folger Library Shakespeare version.
If you want to read Hamlet online, I would recommend the version at Shakespeare’s Words Web site because it gives both line numbers and definitions of words not commonly used in modern English.
You can also access Hamlet for free online at any one of the sites listed below:
o The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (mit.edu)
o The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (opensourceshakespeare.org)
Regardless, I strongly recommend that you use a version with line numbers. These will be very helpful when citing your quotations in your papers. Although your papers for these next week do not require citing outside sources, you will be asked to cite the quotations that you use from Hamlet. The following Web sites will assist you in doing so:
o Son of the Citation Machine (APA Style)
