Annotated Bibliography Directions

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations of books, articles, websites, and other documents. Each citation is followed by a brief summary and evaluation of the source. For further explanation of what an annotated bibliography is, see this guide from the Cornell University Library. (Links to an external site.)

You are required to prepare an annotated bibliography for your policy brief, containing citations to, and brief summaries of, at least six different sources related to your topic. At least two of these must be academic peer-reviewed sources. For more information about academic peer-review, please see this guide from the Lloyd Sealy Library at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (Links to an external site.).

Your annotated bibliography, must follow Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. For details on Chicago Style, check out this guide from the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (Links to an external site.). Please keep in mind that proper formatting is part of the assignment. Failure to follow formatting guidelines will adversely impact your grade on the assignment.
