In your essay, isolate a few aspects in common – perhaps religious practices, a type or style of art, or maybe similarities in architecture – across at least two distinct Indian periods/dynasties or religions using at least two specific objects or works of architecture. Your essay will compare and contrast them – what aspects do they have in common? What are their primary differences?
This essay should look beyond commonalities of medium (don’t pick two items just because they’re sculptures if they have no other point in common), and see what elements of culture, purpose, or style – or a mixture of these – run throughout Indian art.
