About the Americans, aimed at people from other parts of the world

The Assignment: Imagine that your team is commissioned to craft a visual presentation titled About the Americans, aimed at people from other parts of the world ready to visit the United States for the first time. What communication-related topics would you include? What advice would you give?

The Product: The final product can be a power point or a video presentation. All team members are expected to participate equally in development of the presentation (content organization, technical support, scripts, etc.), but all team members do not necessarily have to participate in the actual presentation to the class. For example, if the team develops a video, it would not be logical that all team members spoke during the introduction and close of the video presentation. The same might be true of a power point presentation. If in doubt, ask. The team must write an outline of the presentation.

The outline should include an indication of which team member was responsible for which part of the final product.

The Presentation: The team will present their version of About the Americans to the class. The presentation should be 10-15 minutes long. This will include any introductory remarks and conclusion remarks made by team members. The team should assess the strengths and weaknesses of its members and select those most comfortable with speaking in front of an audience to make the actual presentation. Multiple speakers during the presentation is a good method for this type of presentation.
