Visit a local nursery.
Explore the nursery, and, identify 3 specific plants per following categories: 1) tree; 2) shrub; 3) groundcover; 4)vines; 5) flowers; 6) vegetables; and 7) fruits. For each category, select 3 plants with distinctions, such as, different leaf shapes/sizes, or, flower structure, etc.
Pick your favorite plant from each category, and, describe the reason for the choice.
Describe the components of the plant, such as, leaf, flower, branch, trunk, etc, as detailed as possible with your own observation. If helpful, take the photos or sketch them.
Select one plant that you would like to propagate and to observe its progress. (This will be used for your following weeks’ lab tasks.)

Tip: Use any images, such as, photos, sketches, or images from internet or books, that may help to describe your selections. And, include them as parts of your weekly lab report journal.
